Today, Tarik went down. Twice! Once fighting a foe stronger than himself, the other to a warg, while standing over the body of a fallen commrad. We won, but just and Tarik wasn't there for most of the fight. Tarik is going to take this hard, he failed to protect a member of the party like he failed Bisca. Physical training and mental focus excersizes are what Tarik will be doing any chance we have for rest. Think punching a big rock or meditating close to the fire. He's going to start trying to focus his Ki and work out the flow of energy through him that resulted in punching faster and stronger than he ever has before. It's nice to see the servant classes putting in the work.

And Seijin is going to spar with him too - partly because he looks like he really needs to get some serious training in and there is no substitute for full-contact sparring, and partly because Seijin really likes the whole ethos behind what he does - not reliant on weapons and able to punch plate-armoured ejits to death. OOC: you know what this means? - it's training montage time!Even better to see the servants getting along so well.

As well as the training montage we need to indulge in a crafting montage - I definitely need to start working on making healing potions in any downtime: I am the only one who can heal any of us and I only have o many spells... - so I will work on giving all of you one healing potion.
According the the scribbled notes on my character sheet, I reckon I have 2 right now.

I really like the idea of training and character development in downtime and would like to build in some benefits, however, because of the advancing 'plot' you may not actually have any downtime. Furthermore, when you get back to the Dwarf Fortress --Spoiler Alert-- you might not have much downtime either.
Nevertheless, Tarik and Seijin both get inspiration for suitable in-character forum posts.

Well - if you think we can be bribed with in-character goodies for on-forum roleplay...
... - then you're absolutely right!

I've settled on Di-Symud for the command word for the staff of the Iron Brotherhood. It means motionless in welsh and thought that would be a good word for a dialect of dwarvish.

'Sir' Tombernok Giddywingle
Known as 'big Tom' to his friends (due to his large size ...he's over 3½ ft tall don't-cha-know), Tombernok is a rock-gnome from a clan of renown artisans/tinkerers who specialise(d) in custom works of arms and armour (amongst other things).
It was with little surprise then, that when the 'Order of the Scarlet Star*' sought to be attired in wondrous suits of armour (ones befitting their station and noble cause), the Giddywingle's were commissioned to carry out this important task.
However, before the armour could be completed, the small clanhold was assailed by a combined force of orcs and goblins ...the former coming in search of 'magic crystals' ...the latter seeking slaves for their mines (note to GM - alter this as necessary).
In that battle, the knights of the Scarlet Star stood side by side with the Giddywingle's- and though the knights fought to the last man and woman, the clanhold was eventually overrun, and many of the gnomes were taken prisoner. All save Tombernok.
For Tombernok (a rather young gnome - in only his 7th year of apprenticeship) was instructed to remain hidden my his parents, and thus escaped the carnage/enslavement. But when he re-emerged from hiding, the only person that still drew breath was the old knight Ædorion - though his wounds were mortal.
With his dying breath the old knight laid it upon Tombernok to avenge those that had been slain, and young Tombernok (who had himself spent many evenings listening to the tales that the knights were keen to recount - him being enamoured of such things) swore to do so, and took up the old knight's sword.
However, the armour was (as of yet) unfinished, and the crystal star emblems that were to be set into their breastplates had been taken by the orcs ...and so it came to pass that Tombernok began work on modifying the armour to better fit one of his stature ...and in the year or so that has followed, has spent most of his time honing his skills hunting orcs and their foul allies (which has not always gone well ...but that which does not kill you...).
That being said, he has yet to find the orcs responsible for the destruction of his home, and recovering the crystal emblem to complete 'his' armour has become a quest of sorts ...one he sees as a kind of test to prove himself worthy of the title of 'knight.'
*A lesser order of (human) knights - who had been awaiting the fulfilment of a prophesy that foretold the coming of their saviour in the form of a blazing star (i.e. the hero Galien ...who was actually the red haired elf Gilruin ...who's name in elvish = 'a fiery red star').

Have you been watching the Mandalorian by any chance? I have, but didn't intentionally think of it when creating him (the crystal thing was a result of something you said in the car - just to give him a reason for 'orc hunting' rather than heading off to the goblin mines). I was actually going with more of a Luke vibe (i.e. he's not a Jedi yet ).
