I am intending Empyrean to be 'D&D in space'. You will be a party of adventurers, having adventures, killing baddies, probably killing some others that weren't really baddies, stealing their stuff and gaining in experience. There will be a plot that you are supposed to do.
The style of the game is more Star Wars than Star Trek, with influences of Blakes 7, Bladerunner, Aliens, Firefly, Starship Troopers, and suchlike. Hopefully. Although of course it is more likely to end up as a mash up of Spaceballs, Flesh Gordon and Carry On Up My Black Hole(!)

This may be Heresy, but I like all of you influences except....
STAR TREK!!!!!
Yes, sorry, I am still a nurd I could just never get into Star Trek, even first series when I was young and my M&Ds taste in programs was Last of the summer wine, Songs of praise and the Antiques roadshow... Oh how I loved Sunday evenings in our one TV house :-(.
IMHO Firefly was the best Goddamn series ever.
I also hate FleshGordon as I had to endure watching it with my M&D who hire it on video because they knew I'd liked flash Gordon. Few things worse than watching softcore with your parents...

my problem with Star Trek is the HUGE red "reset" button they would hit at the end of every episode. Nothing anyone ever did ever had a lsting impact or effect.
That's why I'm a true Babylon 5 fan!

Since we're on the subject of TV shows, the one I said you (James) might like is 'Almost Human'... I'll expect at least 3 episodes watched by Thursday (oh ...and just like Firefly, the network originally aired it out of order, and then cancelled it after one season )

At least I've actually watched Star Trek And Star Wars I probably watched but mostly forgot. Except everyone knows the 'I am your father, Luke,' bit. Is that gonna be in it? Oh and Princess Leia's updo- and Darth's asthma
