For the benefit of Johnny (and anyone else who wasn't paying attention to the plot for the last eleven years, i.e. everyone) here the campaign background.
If you read this post you can see a summary of the first two campaigns and the first half of the last.
If you look at the last pages of this thread you can see what happened last time we played.
Basically in the timeline of Jarl, which was a repeating cycle, Campaign 1 was set in 399 AG (After Galien) where there was a dark plague and the heroes had to foil Necrax's attempt to harvest the souls of the dead by finding 3 rings and 3 wands of power. Necrax was defeated with items from Galien's tomb. In Campaign 2, set around 455 AG, the party were given the Amulet of Time and they had to seek out a magical crown, orb and staff. Necrax was defeated again, but in destroying the amulet, time was reversed and the world reset to 500 years previous. In Campaign 3, set in 1 BG, the adventurers assembled the amulet of time, having had some memories from a previous/future life. Necrax was defeated by the hero Galien, who turned out to be Kris's character Gilruin from the first campaign, sent back in time. To break the cycle, they cast the amulet of time into the void, ending Necrax's circle of death. Although 'She, the Bringer of Life' thought she had defeated Necrax, secretly Andy's character had been working all along for The Great Old One, who absorbed the power of Jarl and returned the planet to it's rightful place in the galaxy. Having been previously locked in a time loop, Jarl reappeared and this led into my Sci-Fi campaign, Empyrean.
In the current game, the year is 1 AG. When you were growing up you had a reasonably mundane life. The world is low technology, magic is not commonplace. As you have been prisoners of the goblins for 2 years, you have not witnessed the events in the surface world including the defeat of Necrax.
