Vayda Ka was the result of generations of selective breeding, the noble Topaz Dragon Vashra Ka would see his subjects be the stuff of legends, perfectly crafted bloodlines to lay the foundations for an eternal dynasty. Until Vayda was born. Born sickly and pale, Vayda was far from resembling the specimen Vashra had planned for. Regardless, Vashra discarded the mother and Vayda was raised alongside his countless siblings, all varying degrees of the perfect specimen.
Vayda was taught the secret charms and techniques of his father, but always held resentment for his lot in life. He longed to be among the dirt and the ordinary, far from the Golden orchards of his father's realm and further still from his Vashra.
Vayda would eventually have his escape, when a rival clan lead by Hamuna On the Black Dragon, attacked Vashra in the night. A fierce battle fought with magic and steel sang through the golden orchards that night, Vayda snuck away, his lithe form writhing through the dead and dying as the morning sun rose. Covered in filth and mud, his Topaz scales were dimmed and he passed as any common chromatic dragonborn. He travelled the world since, remembering the ways of court to beguile the sympathetic and scrounge forbwhat loving he could.
Though content with the life of a wandering vagabond, Vayda repressed his heritage and keeps a watchful eye on the skies, in case Vashra would seek one of his many heirs.

Born into the clan. Tou’Ka’s parents, grandparents and further have been a part of the clan since an incursion of Orks forced the small tribe to flee into the lands of the Clan. Outnumbered and out muscled, facing death at the hands of their pursuers. The Aarakocra were almost resigned to their fate. It was only after direct intervention by founding members of the Clan that they were saved. When the invaders were defeated, the Aarakocra were given the choice, join the Clan or leave. Every member of the tribe bent the knee and swore themselves to the Archmage. They found work on the proto Airships, as test pilots. Today they can be found on or flying around the Airships of the Clan as air security as they return from trade missions, looking for stowaways or object that a not so honourable trading partner may have placed on the airship or as a Scout, flying ahead of the airships.
Personality: Tou’Ka was a reserved but happy youngster. His mother was a permanent crew member of a Battleship. His father was killed before he hatched and so looked to the Archmage as a role model. Not holding a talent for the arcane, he was focusing on using his mind to finding efficient solutions, solve problems, decipher meanings or read the inner thoughts a potential foe. When not in on Airships or practicing his fencing/marksmanship, he was often found tinkering in a workshop or talking to gnomes about ideas to improve life on board an Airship. Since maturing Tuo'ka developed a curiosity of the world. New things need to be examined and problems, solved. He had begun to embrace his father’s hobby of Skrimshaw. His loyalty to the Clan was only out shined by his love for his mother. He could become ruthless when feeling either his mother, the Archmage and other clan members are at risk. His respect for the Archmage was absolute.
Post Archmage Ascension, the world as he knew it has ended. The Spyer an airless husk. No contact from the frontline, no hierarchy to trust in, Tou’ka is searching for a goal to peruse. A reason to stay alive. Either to restore the Clan, find a new future for his people or slaying the god that betrayed them all. Right now, he doesn’t care which.

Original back story for Nic
Nicodemus Brambleditch had a happy childhood. He was a cheerful little gnome, with a slightly comical appearance due to his sticking-out ears, and he got on well with others. Living in the forest, the gnomes had a close association with the Druids, and Nic would play happily with the elvish and human children of the Druid Circle. He was particular friends with Hazel, a young half elf, and they would spend hours in the woods together, learning the ways of the small animals that dwelt there.
Everything changed the day that a marauding band of orcs rampaged through the forest when Nic was ten years old. Led by a cruel young orc called Skargad, they were known as the Orcs of the Burning Blade, recognisable by the self-inflicted scar on their left cheek. The small gnome community stood no chance against the brutes, and Nicodemus witnessed his whole family being hacked to pieces. Skargad grabbed Nic and (showing off to his band) scored a jagged hot knife down the little gnome's cheek, burning out his eye in the process. The last thing Nic saw, before he passed out, was Hazel and the other Druids watching silently from the trees - they had not intervened to save the gnomes. When he awoke the next morning, the orcs had gone, and Nicodemus swore to himself that he would never trust anyone as a friend again.
Half-blinded, he stumbled through the forest, and was discovered by a Clan hunting party on the trail of the orcs. The leader, Tharis, an up-and-coming spymaster in the employ of the Archmage, took pity on the wounded gnome, and decided to adopt him as a kind of pet. He took him back to Spyre and presented him to the Archmage himself, who was also rather taken with the little chap. He bestowed upon him a rare gift - a magical eye to replace the one taken from him by the evil Skargad. Thus the Archmage gained Nicodemus’ loyalty forever.
Tharis taught Nic about the ways of the Clan, and the value of knowledge and secrets. Due to his small size and ability to go unnoticed by larger folk, Nic soon proved a useful spy, and he was able to help Tharis further his own standing within the Clan by the gathering of useful information, some of which could be used against others.
So for a few years Nicodemus has lived in Spyre, friends with many and known by most, although never really part of any group, as even the other gnomes have never fully accepted him as their own. He dreams of more independence, and a chance to explore the world outside. His outwardly cheerful demeanor hides a bitter heart of darkness…
Since Ascension Nic has changed. He has gained in confidence and skill, and now thinks of himself as a powerful person. He (secretly) does not care about anyone but himself, and has little regard for others, even the Archmage (but he won't admit this and adopts a cheerful, friendly demeanour as he finds that he can get more out of people if they like him). He plans to exploit this new situation for profit, but survival comes first, and having a group of allies around him provides useful protection.
