The party pummeled Cally for information about the experimentation that had been conducted upon them and although she could not give them all the answers she did tell them that the virus was not harmful but merely transmitted an image of a potential threat (the crablike Krell). Cally was alarmed to hear mention of the brain tentacle creature that was apparently impersonating the scientist Stromboli. She determined that it was essential they rejoin the Hermod research vessel as quickly as possible, and so agreed to help the party.
Cally went down to the Polizi station and immediately secured Jonah's release, presumably by use of Compulsor powers. She provided a type of compulsor drug which could cause short-term compliance and the party set off to use this on Skallion and his crew. Skallion himself was found at a nightclub, and while Diana distracted him with her insectoid charms, Akara administered the drug, just as he pulled a gun. Under the influence, he gave over the ship access codes, and was taken back to Sigma Tec and tied to a chair.
Next the party found the Fael, Greenbeard, at a gambling joint. Using the same strategy he was quickly subdued, and told to call the Ulki co-pilot to Sigma Tec. When he arrived, Akara again used his telekinesis to fire the compulsor drug and the last of the access codes were obtained. With Skallion's crew all restrained at Sigma Tec, the party left for the spaceport.
The ship, Naglfar 3, was a small star ship with a cargo bay big enough to hold a vehicle. As the rest of the party boarded the ship, Jonah was able to take off, and the adventurers finally left the planet's surface....

While our space adventurers divided up the ships inventory amongst themselves, Cally determined that the Hermod was headed for the Sol system and a course was set. The interstellar jump took around 8 periods (most of a day) and when they arrived in system Cally was able to find out more information on the whereabouts of the freighter. It appeared that it had first gone to Saturn and visited Titanworld, where the leader of the program, Murdoch, had departed. Next they went to Jupiter and took on supplies at Trident Gate, the large station orbiting Neptune's largest moon, Triton. From there it had headed to the smaller moon, Proteus, where there was a small research colony, and apparently Stromboli had been left in charge there.
Our heroes docked at Trident Gate and set about making money to fund a refuelling of the ship. Akara successfully sold some drugs he had found and easily made enough credits. Cally encouraged them to hurry, and so they set off for Proteus, dragging Kryll away from the nectar bar.
A short trip took them to the largely desolate moon, where Jonah landed the ship a short distance from the colony in a gravity bubble. Akara, Jonah, Kryll, Diana and Cally all disembarked and entered the airlock. There was no answer from the com pad, and all seemed deserted. The inner door would not open, and Jonah's hacking attempt failed, so they had to force the door open with a wrench and wedge it with a table. Once inside they found a security station and managed to get footage showing Stromboli entering the station earlier and being greeted by a resident.
Further in, as they entered a lounge area, a crazed colonist suddenly emerged from a kitchen and attacked Akara with a cleaver. He was eventually subdued by a blow from Kryll's stunstaff. The party hoped that an interrogation of the colonist may provide them with some answers....

Meldarth had recovered from his sickness and joined the group as they interrogated the colonist. He seemed to believe that the party were all 'crab aliens' who were out to kill him. He was restrained and taken back to the ship.
The party made there way through the rest of the base, discovering several bodies, and more crazed colonists, who attacked them before being subdued and tied up. In the hydroponics area, Meldarth and the others were shot at by a gunman on a gantry, and later Kryll was stabbed in the back by a Brob with a flamebrand. At one point a crash from outside the base caused the power to fail and the party had to resort to torches. In the vehicle bay, one vehicle was missing and the exterior doors were open.
They encountered a security door with no power but ingeniously managed to power it up so Jonah could hack it. In the research area they subdued a medic, but an Ulki with explosives blew himself and a room up, injuring several party members.
Finally they found Stroboli - wreathed in flame and completely crazed. He attacked them with mind powers, causing half the party to flee, but Meldarth and Jonah fired at him. He dodged many attacks but could not avoid them all, and Akara used telekinesis to smash a grenade in to his head, which then exploded, splattering his brain all over the room. The party were victorious, although might now find it difficult to interrogate Stromboli and find out what was going on...

In the shattered remains of Stromboli's skull, Jonah found a small silver wormlike thing. When Cally touched this, she got a vision of the Vilak (who had been impersonating Stromboli) on the command deck of the freighter. The corpse seemed human, so the party surmised that this was Stromboli himself who they had killed. Cally discovered that he, and the other inhabitants of the base all carried a mutant strain of the sigma virus.
Determining that they needed to chase after the freighter, they proceeded to loot the base of everything usable including a new vehicle. They also encountered a small chameleonic creature called a gibbeon which Akara adopted as a pet. They left the stricken inhabitants locked in their rooms, posted information to the company that owned the base, and declared quarantine.
Kryll had found that the freighter was headed for Wolf 424A and so they spent a day and a half travelling there. On the way they re-furbed the ship, which now had cleaner bedding, better tech and science equipment, renewed food stocks and a fully kitted-out sex dungeon.
They arrived at a 'Star-Stop' refuelling station, where Akara traded some drugs in exchange for useful information. Apparently the freighter had stopped here and an Ulk carrying some sort of canister had departed by shuttle to a nearby asteroid known as Lupanon. They decided to follow this lead and soon landed at a small mining base. They spoke with one of the two occupants who told them that the Ulk had indeed come here and entered the caves where a protein-rich fungus was routinely harvested.
The crew drove their new vehicle in to the caves until they could go no further. Walking down one of the maze-like tunnels they discovered the Ulk's open canister and several tracks. They decided that Jonah and Akara would go back to the ship, while the others investigated deeper in. As they split up however, both groups were attacked by the crablike aliens from their implanted memories - the Krell.

Jonah and Akara were attacked by one of the Krell, while the others had to fight two of the creatures. Kryll blasted at them with his pistols and Meldarth attacked with a shotgun, damaging them slightly although their armour protected them considerably. Diana's psionic blast proved most effective, knocking them down so Meldarth was able to finish one of them. The other succumbed to another mental bolt from the Bakree. Meanwhile, Jonah had suffered considerable damage from the fight before the other was finally slain.
Jonah took the vehicle back to the ship and began repairing himself, while the others ventured deeper into the caves. Akara used his mind powers to good effect and discovered that there were more of the creatures moving around in the tunnels. They came across an egg, which Meldarth promptly blasted to smithereens, and later a hatchling - a prawnlike organism that was feeding off the algae and growing at an exponential rate. While the party experimented with feeding the creature and trying to discover whether it had any intelligence, they were attacked by three more Krell, one of which was gigantic. Meldarth took some grievous wounds from the massive claws of the creature while he and the others blasted at them with energy weapons. The situation was looking grim until Akara put up a gravity shield which managed to deflect most of the attacks. Concentrated attacks from everyone damaged the huge beast considerably, and then Diana impressively took it out with a bazookoid. Eventually the others were dispatched also, and the party rested for a few seconds.
Pressing on, they found the remains of Travis, the Ulki who had come here with the canister. They surmised that he had brought the first egg which had spawned the Krell, which seemed to be able to breed asexually and with incredible speed. Akara fine-tuned his mind powers and found a silver worm, similar to the one they had from Stromboli. Sensing that many more of the creatures were converging on them, they ran for the exit. As scores of the Krell rushed at them, they were rescued by Jonah who had driven into the caves. Racing away, they blasted at the tunnels, and Diana managed to collapse the entrance with another well-placed bazookoid shot.
With the Krell trapped for now, they explained the situation to Cally and the miner, who agreed that serious action was needed. The party pondered their next move and wondered if the silver worm would provide them with more answers....
