The party were contacted via Cally with express instructions to chase down the Vilak before he could deliver any information about the viral research. They were provided with fuel as they were the only ship within range that had a chance of catching the freighter. Cally's superiors also promised to deal with the Krell threat on Lupanon.
Kryll once again touched his worm and managed to gain insight into the whereabouts of the Hermod. He identified that it was en route to the Dragas system - which strangely had been off the charts until recently. There was a small earthlike planet with a single moon, with both indigenous beings and colonists living there.
On their way to the system the party recovered themselves and prepared a plan to attack and board the vessel, using some of the pirate technology on board the Naglfar.
When they arrived, they were not far behind the Hermod, and it was headed towards the planet orbiting Dragas. Jonah flew in close and used the hacking machine to open the freighter's bay doors. He then flew past, strafing the side of the larger ship with fire from the ship weapon and from Meldarth in the turret. The escape pods on one side were destroyed and some damage was done to the engine. After this surprise attack, the Hermod raised its shields and began evasive maneuvers, but had no weapons to fire back.
Encouraged by Kryll and the others Jonah expertly piloted the ship to fire at the bridge, causing some damage and offering a view of the Vilak (disguised as a path called Kasparov) and two others who seemed to be under his control. Akara used his mind powers to telekinetically slam the alien against a wall. As Jonah blasted the remaining escape pods the Vilak was seen entering the airlock and apparently disappearing. Akara and Jonah used their enhanced senses and discovered an alien ship - like a huge squid - attached invisibly to the side.
Diana picked up the silver worm and focussed a mind attack through it. Despite the Vilak's powerful mind fortress, she managed to strike him and caused considerable damage. Fire was concentrated on the alien ship which was destroyed after several blasts, but an escape 'globule' was seen separating from the ship as it broke apart. Another blast disintegrated the Vilak and Diana heard his death scream.
The Hermod seemed to be on a collision course with a city down on the planet, but a hit from the exploding alien ship, as well as Jonah's expert flying nudged it away. The android pilot the Naglfar into the hold, where scientist were seen running from many Krell. Diana blasted the Krell with her remaining bazookoid and Akara used his influence to rescue the scientists. The heroes reversed out of the hold and flew to safety just before the freighter crashed in to the ocean.
They had managed to stop the Vilak escaping and had plenty of useful information about the aliens to pass on to Cally's superiors. Mission accomplished.
