Chris mentioned liking Only War the Warhammer 40k game of Imperial Guard. Would anyone like to play it as filler until James is ready? I also have Dark Heresy 1st edition, Rogue Trader (the newer rpg not the older War game), And Black Crusade.

I've answered over on your facebook post ...but I'll copy it here too:
I'd say it's always good to have another back-up game lined up - because even if we don't get round to playing it before James' game starts, there's bound to be other times we'll need one (for example the AoS only started because, at the time, we had 3 LARPers in the group that would disappear every now and again - leaving just 3 or 4 of us at the club).
Plus, who knows when a TPK will strike 🙂
Anyway, I've had a look at the Only War pdf (just skimmed cha gen really), and it looks interesting (it kinda reminds me of the old games workshop stuff, and takes me back to being a teenager - when I was really into all that) ...plus I like how you can generate your squad's regiment, commanding officer, etc. before making any characters.
So yeah, I would be happy to give it a go (be it as a filler game sometime soon, or later on in the year).

Sorry for the duplication but I've only got 3 of you on Facebook. Looked at the schedule and it loooks like Amber and Age of Shadow until James is ready, but I will have Only War ready in case of emergencies.

Attachments for regiment generation (as discussed on FB) reg_pt1.pdf (531.91 KB) reg_pt2.pdf (889.53 KB) (I've had to strip out the images and split it over 2 pdfs due to the upload limit of the forum)

Based on what we've got here (as Lawrence has other books too)... ...for the home-world bit, it might be fun to go with a Penal Colony (costs 2 of our 12 points) - so that the GM can have fun sending us in to do all the really shitty stuff that no-one else wants to do (as we'll all probably play like murder hobo's in any case ). Or maybe go for the other end of the spectrum and 'Schola Progenium' (costs 3 points) i.e. the elite guys ...and be all "FOR THE EMPEROR!" and all that nonsense. Any thoughts?

I like the murder hobo idea. I'll post the other options from source books tomorrow. For 7 points you can have a super heavy tank regiment! And that's only possible with regimental drawbacks, which are in the source books. Murder hobos in a baneblade, dear god emperor tell me isn't so!

NA-1606-SS4 “Volunteers”.
Imprisoned on the ice-world of NA-1606-SS4 the troopers of this Penal Legion have developed a fondness for heat and flame based weaponry that borders on pyromania. Indeed many of the “Volunteers” sport horrible scars from “accidents” with their new toys. Thanks to the wisdom of the Departmento Munitorium this newly founded Hunter Killer regiment has been issued with a consignment of Hellhound flame-tanks.
Home-world: Penal Colony.
Commanding Officer: Maverick
Regiment Type: Hunter-Killer.
Doctrines: Hardened Fighters, Combat Drugs
Cost: 11
Rules:
Characteristic Mods.: +2 WS, +3 BS, -3 S, +3 Ag, +3 T
Starting Skills: Intimidate, Linguistics (Low Gothic), Operate (Surface), Street Fighting.
Starting Talents: Street Fighting, Resistance (Fear)
Larcenous: +10 logistics tests to acquire illegal or contraband items.
Wounds: +1
Standard Regimental Kit: One Hellhound Support Tank per squad, One Good craftsmanship Meltagun per squad, Las Pistol upgraded to Good quality, Inhaler with 5 doses Stimm, Apply Mono upgrade to knife, Standard Kit.
This is what my last group of players came up with although I never got to run that game.

Gonna go with my Breaking Bad Calixis idea, there is a growing problem with use of the drug Slaught on the Spinward front.
