Three brave adventurers arrived in Tropes Town: James's Half Orc Rogue, armed with probably the worst set of attribute rolls ever; Kath's Elf Fighter, a lefty pacifist; and Kris's Hobbit Barbarian, disguised as a wizard.
Once through the gates, they proceeded to the 'Newbie Area' and visited the General Store, where they purchased the obligatory 10ft pole and caltrops. In the 'Inn of the Dancing Donkey' they ordered beer and chatted with the bartender, who directed them to a mysterious stranger in the corner. He was dressed in a grey cloak, wore a pointy hat and was blowing smoke-rings from a clay pipe. He introduced himself as Aragorn. He explained that he had obtained a map and key from a bloke by the name of 'Ron', who promised the dungeon held great riches, including a huge diamond. Ron had also asked that they look out for a ring that he had lost.
The party made their way down to the cave entrance and found a stone door with a cryptic inscription. Eventually they worked out the location of the key hole and the wizard was able to open the door. Inside, the rogue scouted ahead, but failed to use the 10ft pole and was impaled on a spear trap. They came to a door, listened, and sure enough heard the sound of gambling. Inside were four goblins playing cards. One imperious looking female goblin seemed to be winning, while the others, dressed in red, green and purple, were not doing well. Kath implored them to rise up against the rich one, and indeed the bearded one with a red hat attacked the female goblin and killed her. James killed the one dressed in green and Kris dealt with the beer-swigging one. Only the red hat one was left, who ran under the half orc's legs, causing him to accidentally hack at his own genitals in an attempt to hit the goblin. Eventually the goblin was killed by the wizard. (The near victory of the red goblin was pretty appropriate considering that this was election night.)
They discovered a horn, which the half-orc promptly blew, attracting the attention of the goblin army. The party hurried on, down a disused passage, where they eventually had to crawl. The half orc put his hand on a ring in the dark, and picked it up. They then found themselves at the edge of an underground lake. A small, gangly goblin-like creature arrived in a coracle. They gave him food, which he readily consumed, but would only agree to transport them if they answered a riddle. They couldn't be bothered, so the half orc stabbed the creature and his body fell into the water and sadly floated away. James's character decided to throw rocks at the body so sink it, but instead hit the boat and sank it instead. The boat had to be fished out and repaired by the wizard before they could cross the lake. On the other side, James tried out the ring, which turned him invisible, but this was only seen by Kath, who's story was not believed by the others.
The wizard led them on through a maze of goblin tunnels and dwarf halls. Eventually they had to rest and found a chamber with a stone sarcophagus in the centre. Inside the tomb they found treasures: a mithril shirt, an axe, a medallion, and the large diamond, which the wizard took. After looting they heard the sound of drums, and barred the door. Eventually the goblin hordes, along with a huge ogre, broke into the room. Kris fought against two goblins, while Kath jumped on top of the tomb, and the wizard and James were at the back. A few of the goblins were slain by the party, but the ogre proved too fearsome an opponent. It swept Kath off the sarcophagus with a single blow, leaving her unconscious and bleeding. James used his ring to sneak up behind it, but as he attacked, he became visible again, and the ogre squashed him. Kris made a break for the door and managed to escape the room, leaving the wizard and his fallen companions behind....
