Just starting a thread for my upcoming Vampire shenanigans. Initially thought I'd post a couple of links. Firstly a wiki page with lots of background on the setting: whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Vampire:_The_MasqueradeAnd secondly an actual play I've been watching, I'm only about halfway through so no spoilers: youtu.be/YBr55_UCfikMore to follow.

My pitch from the other thread:
You crawl out of the ground not sure what has just happened to you, your senses are heightened, you feel more "alive" , and you are so HUNGRY.
Embraced at the start of a siege by the Sabbat do you eventually become True Sabbat, do you join the Camarilla that you were created to destroy, do you seek refuge with the Anarchs, or do you forge your own path?
Fair warning as a new and very hungry Vampire with no education as to Vampire nature this is liable to start out very grim and nasty.
"Beast I am lest Beast I become."

Cool.
Do we need to think about our past life? Do we remember who we used to be, or does that not matter now?
Are we all part of the same clan? It seems the Sabbat clans are Tzimisce or Lasombra.

You will be able to remember your past life, unless of course you take a flaw that means you can't.
Most of the Clans have representatives in the Sabbat, the two that don't are Tremere and Giovanni, you can also be one of the Clanless. You don't have to be all from the same clan either.
Just because you were embraced by the Sabbat doesn't mean you have to join them, indeed until you pass certain rites they don't even view you as proper vampires.

Hi Lawrence
Are you using a particular edition of Vampire for your game?
Are we creating characters in session 1 or should we attempt to do this ourselves?
Is there a character sheet we should use?
Cheers Steve

Session 1.
One by one the group emerge from their shallow graves, the first to excavate himself (Barney) watches with horror as undead emerge from the earth. Barney backs off towards a church as Jess and Vincent also excavate themselves. Karl also emerges from the shallow grave that they had all been interred in, Barney at this point starts filming it on his mobile phone. John begins to climb out of his grave, the others back away in horror, while they seem to be mostly human this creature has rotten and maggoty flesh and yet still walks. Feeling the flesh sloughing from his face and seeing the decaying meat on his hands John seems more shocked than his new companions. Feeling a hunger they can't quite identify the newly created Kindred face their first night.
A brawl erupts on the normally quiet Erdington High Street, four young lads not knowing the danger they are in brawl over the affections of a young lady, one them receives a blow to the nose and begins to bleed onto the paving slabs. Smelling this vitae, Carl gives into his hunger and moves towards his prey, initially resisting their hunger Vincent and Jess also begin to instinctively hunt. First to reach his prey, Vincent, takes his victim unaware, sinks his fangs into the neck and drinks deeply from his victim. Carl pounces on one of the two guys fighting and latches on, unable to control his thirst he drains his victim dry, struggling with the reality of what he has just done he vomits some of his meal onto the ground. Trapped under the fellow he was fighting one of the hapless young men seeing the fate of his friends tries to struggle away and escape, he is trapped under the dead weight of his former friend who is now Carl's victim. The fourth member of the group, seeing the plight of his friends tries to flee, feeling a predatory instinct Jess pursues his victim and feeds until his hearty beats no longer.
Horrified by what they have just done Carl, Jess and Vincent look down on their victims lost in their feelings of remorse. John watching this, unseen from the shadows, having controlled his thirst worries about what he has become. Barney still in shock continues to back away towards the church still filming the scene of horror.
A voice cries out "What the fuck do you fuckers think you are doing, we need to clear this away!"
A young man covered in scars emerges previously unseen from a doorway, blond and messy haired, covered from head to toe in self inflicted scars.
"Who the fuck are you?" replies Vincent.
"This mess, we need to clear it up. You're Vampire's and keeping our existence hidden is our highest law. We'll get this cleared up and we'll talk"
Barney hears this and begins to flee.
"You're all vampires, I'm a vampire"
On hearing this admission and assuming he is responsible for their condition, Carl punches the young man in the face.

Sorry I won't be there next week.
My character background is that John Hale was a failed medical student with zero empathy. He became a loner and worked in pathology labs and funeral parlours.
He will spend the next session hiding in the background and gathering information about the others and the world of darkness.
I am thinking of swapping out Animalism for Dominate. I think you said that we could choose non-clan disciplines. Is that okay?
Cheers Steve

What did we say about Cast No Reflection and cameras, etc.?

Tone: I think we said that nothing catches your reflection - not water, mirrors, shiny metal or cameras.
Also: loving it! - such a difference to all the other games we've played!
Vincent Valentine is a bouncer in the roughest clubs in Birmingham, and has even been known to provide security for illegal raves, cock fights and bare knuckle fights. When he was mortal he was definitely not above engaging in anything profitably illegal: if you got thrown out of a venue where he was running the door, you would get taken round back and get a thorough kicking and would NOT walk away with cash, wallet, jewellery or car keys. He wouldn't try and use credit cards himself or phones - but he knows a guy who knows a guy who will always pay good cash for such items.
(trying to provide an in-character explanation for his contacts background as well as high levels of brawl...)
He's well built, long straight black hair which he wears swept back from his face, and usually in black combat trousers, t-shirt, boots and black leather trenchcoat. He has a couple of rooms in the basement of one of the clubs he works at where he crashes.

Also: I am playing him (right now on the first night at least) as unaware of his powers... - so my question is: how easy are they to activate? - the whole "spending a blood point' thing - is that conscious? - or would it kick in naturally if there was a fight?
Do powers activate instinctively or do you need to be tutored in their use?

I was going to allow you to use them instinctively, and be all surprised at your powers. Usually some are instinctive and some are taught but I decided that the only ones I would ban as completely taught were Thaumaturgy and Necromancy.
