Mae govannen mellyn nín! Just starting a thread for this game I'd like to run at some point in the future (maybe a short, month-long, mini-campaign). The time period will be during the War of the Ring (around the time of the breaking of the fellowship), and the setting will be the Bree/Weathertop/Rivendell area. The game is (like the title says) Adventures in Middle Earth by Cubicle 7 (it's essentially D&D 5e at its core). Both me & Steve have a copy of the actual book ...but if you're a no-good, dirty, rotten scoundrel, you might like to cast your eyes here: LINKY So, if you have any character ideas or questions, feel free to drop them below (note that not all of the races will be suitable for this area, and I also have a 'high elf' race from one of the region books - so that is an option too). Also, since names and languages are very important in Middle Earth, if you choose a suitable name* for your character, you will be granted with inspiration at the beginning of each session (I can provide examples if necessary). If you choose a silly name (i.e. I'm a hobbit called Dildo Shaggins) the GM gains inspiration *note that, since elves tend to not re-use names, most of the examples given in the book will not be suitable.

Suitable cultures/races: Dúnedain Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain: (though I'll be using this as a generic dwarf ...so you could just as easily be from the Blue Mountains in the west, or a wanderer on the road) Hobbits of the Shire: To better fit the area, you'll instead be a 'Hobbit from Bree' (or the surrounding villages of Archet, Staddle, or Combe). Men of Bree High Elves of Rivendell
Less Suitable cultures/races: Elves of Mirkwood: used as a generic wood-elf. Riders of Rohan: Since 'southerners' have fled from the war in the south, one of these being a RoR is conceivable (though you'd be a refugee). Woodmen of Wilderland: This could be re-purposed to represent someone living within the Breeland, but not in one of main settlements -OR- another southern refugee (possibly of Dunlending origin).
Innapropriate cultures/races: Bardings Beornings Men of the Lake Men of Minas Tirith
(note that all the changes listed above are purely cosmetic)

I'm getting in first. My character will be a Hobbit Treasure Hunter (Rogue). Not sure of a name yet, although Dildo Shaggins is tempting.

Ignore the Virtues stuff for now - they're essentially 'feats' that you can choose at later levels.

no worries.
And it should be noted - I am only taking High Elf as I cannot see "Maiar" as an available option...
