Seijin grew up in the Great Forest, son of a pair of retired adventurers; Malaxorin a female drow sorcerer who had left the underdark for the surface many years ago, who met and fell in love with Andros, a human fighter.
Seijin was to become the apprentice of the Archdruid and was traveling to the Druids Circle (a Stonehenge-style large circle of standing stones) when they were attacked by a goblin raiding party. As far as he knows, he is the only survivor of the party.
If he ever gets free, we will want to get back to the Great Forest to see if his family - and his whole community - are safe.

which reminds me - Kristian - didn't you used to have a set of those snazzy cards one time you played a casting class? - did you download them / bodge them yourself* / buy them? * I am fully aware that when YOU "bodge" things, they are largely indistinguishable from full-blown professional level...

They're called 'Spellbook Cards' ...they're officially licensed by 'Gale Force 9' (I had the cleric set for Ivar, and I picked up the paladin set before playing Cog). Though make sure you get the revised sets (or version 2+) ...as the original ones didn't let you know if it was a concentration spell or not.
There's also things like THIS online.

Tarik was born into the Hammerhand clan. Not one of the great clan but no less proud for it. The Hammerhands are a clan of skilled workers/artisans, widespread and often found in the local forge or stone macsons. His family traveld around finding work when they could, in whatever trade they could work to make ends meet.
Tarik has learned from a young age the value of hard work. Learning how to work a forge, create hammer and chisel or carry a flaggen of ale. When he came of age, he went through the rights all Hammerhands go through and recived his blue tattoos, marking him as an adult of the clan.
After, Tarik journey on his own and found work in the Hidden Fox tavern. He learned to enjoyed having a drink with customers and fighting in the bars pit. Drinking lead to brawling and brawling lead to drinking. One night a half ork named Grask (Tariks opponent for the evening) tried to shank him and the brawl became serious. Tarik and a human called Bisca managed to beat, restrain and turn him over to the local law enforcement.
Finding he had a bounty on his head worth more than a months work in the forge, the pair formed a partnership and began to hunt down bountys through finding taverns and shady bars outlaws like to drink in. Either through drinking contests, ambushing the mark as they left or straight up brawling in a tavern, the two learned their new trade.
One ill fated night, Bisca and Tarik tried to take a bounty by storm. It ended in tradagy with Tarik being thrown from a second story window. Upon waking, he found the body of Bisca, beaten and broken. After her funeral Tarik was making his way back to the home of his Clan where he was ambushed and captured by goblins.

I love me some well-crafted background stories that flesh out a character and their motivations! - and also happen to leave nice plothooks for the GM and general roleplaying!
I've decided Seijin is quite young in outlook and is trying to prove himself - but starts with a quite open attitude to others... - and he is desperate to grow a beard as that's what he thinks all druids should look like... - but right now he's way too young to do so...

Gragga Grok is a very young dwarf. So young his beard has not sprouted yet. Well maybe one or two downy wisps...
He was the youngest child in a small community. It had been much larger, but persistant Goblin raids over many years had taken their toll.
Gragga's parents were in the small militia of the town who were miners.
In a dawn raid, the goblins attacked, killing most of the adult dwarfs.
Gragga and around 7 other youngster, and a couple of old timers were all that survived. They were chained together and taken on a long and arduous journey to the goblin mine. The old timers barely made it. Gragga has not seen any of the other's from his town since he arrived in the mine.
One peculiar thing, the slop he was given by the goblins to eat has turned his hair blond. Before it was a dark brown in colour.

Rimir is not the most likable character. Rimir headed a small gang of noble teens who were willing to cheat their way through life with the least effort. Having been brought up to a life of privilege and the benefit of high natural Charisma Rimir was able to manipulate others through persuasion or intimidation, whatever works best at the time. Why work when you don’t have to there are plenty of underlings willing to write essays or do small favours. Being sneaky and sleight of hand were particularly useful for finding incriminating information or dropping evidence in the right places for leverage.
Rimir was never fond of the word “No”. It was a summers day when Rimir and his cronies decided to bunk school. Rimir forged several letters to get his friends excused. The day started as planned with the young nobles escaping lessons and heading off on borrowed horses to the countryside. Unfortunately the nobles had not heeded their elders and were captured by a goblin raiding party. An ignoble end to the day with further shocks in the form of hard penal labour to follow.
When the blessing of the old one were offered Rimir true to form grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Who wouldn’t want magic without the effort of having to learn it or pray for it.

At third level Rimir has the option of multiclassing Rogue, Bard, Sorcerer, or continuing to 3rd level Warlock.
Rogue + 1 Skill (Perception), Proficency thieves tools, Experties (Perception, Insight), Back stab d6
Bard +1 Skill (Perception), Proficiency Musical instrument, Cantrips (Mage hand, Dancing lights), Spells (Heroism, Fairy fire, +2), 2x level 1 spell slots Sorcerer - Nothing useful gained till third level Warlock Book of shadows Cantrips (3) +1Spell, Spells cast at 2nd level
Rogue enhances Rimir as a manipulative charlatan but has very little to offer
Bard is interesting for many reasons including a second level at a later date. Rimir will get a familiar at 5th level warlock via the Book of ancient secrets invocation. The Familiar can deliver a touch spell such as Heroism as if the familiar had cast it. As the familiar has ostensibly cast the touch concentration spell, the concentration burden would fall to the familiar (depending on GM flexibility). Specifically Rimir could cast Heroism via the familiar to grant temporary hit points and then cast Fairy fire. There are few touch concentration spells. Using a familiar to take the burden of concentration on the very limited number of touch concentration spells changes their utility from not worth having to a useful addition. In the normal course of events only wizards have familiars. Happy for this to be used against us if I can use it. Expecting others to start chirping at this point.

The familiar would not be able to concentrate for you as it cannot cast spells only act as an extension of your touch. Nice try though.

Shame, the concentration mechanic in 5th ed is broken and not in a good way. I understand the reasons for concentration but it is the wrong mechanism to correct the problem of layering spells. An arch mage can send turn an ally invisible then teleport them to the other side of the planet then by stubbing his/her toe get the ally killed. Another example Stoneskin which as a 4th level spell is expected to have a powerful effect. Cast it, get very limited resistance, non against level appropriate challenges, and breakable by unlevelled peasant with a clod of mud. However magic is supposed to be nonsensical. It is not surprising that few concentration spells are published in later books.
P.S. Bypassing the concentration mechanic for stoneskin has the effect of removing the ability of an unlevelled peasant breaking the spell with a clod of mud. Stoneskin is at best a first level spell which will be dropped at later levels when opponents have magic weapons.

Today, Tarik went down. Twice! Once fighting a foe stronger than himself, the other to a warg, while standing over the body of a fallen commrad. We won, but just and Tarik wasn't there for most of the fight. Tarik is going to take this hard, he failed to protect a member of the party like he failed Bisca.
Physical training and mental focus excersizes are what Tarik will be doing any chance we have for rest. Think punching a big rock or meditating close to the fire. He's going to start trying to focus his Ki and work out the flow of energy through him that resulted in punching faster and stronger than he ever has before.

And Seijin is going to spar with him too - partly because he looks like he really needs to get some serious training in and there is no substitute for full-contact sparring, and partly because Seijin really likes the whole ethos behind what he does - not reliant on weapons and able to punch plate-armoured ejits to death.
OOC: you know what this means? - it's training montage time!
